WOMEN RUNNING FOR PUBLIC OFFICE (ANY OFFICE/ANY LEVEL/ANY PARTY) — ISSUES TO CONSIDER

The Brattle Group, 44 Brattle Street, Cambridge, MA  02138

Date:   Tuesday, August 2, 2011
Time: 4:00 p.m. Networking
4:30 p.m. Presentation/discussion

Eighty-fourth in the world: that’s where the United States ranks for women in elected office, behind Mexico, China and Pakistan.  The number of women in Congress has dropped to 16%, and the number of women in state legislatures declined by nearly 80 seats, the sharpest drop in nearly four decades.  In Massachusetts, we currently have the lowest number of women serving in the State House since 1998 at a mere 24%.

A pool of highly qualified women candidates is being left untapped. Too often, women do not see themselves running for office.  They do not think they are experienced enough or they just don’t know where to start.  Come hear from Emerge Massachusetts Executive Director Judy Neufeld  on the state of women in politics today, and what YOU can do to change the statistics.

Please RSVP with Name, email, and phone by Friday, July 29 to debra.paolo@brattle.com.
