Burlington, Vermont. February 13, 2012. Building Energy was acknowledged at the Better Buildings by Design Conference for winning Efficiency Vermont’s contest, “Best of the Best in Major Renovation” for rehabilitating a historic home located at 52 Drew Street in Burlington, VT. Primary features of the project were restoring the original architectural features of the 1859 home, re-insulating the entire house and updating the interior finishes. Overall heat energy savings are projected to be 70% and electrical consumption is anticipated to decrease by at least 38%.

Saturday, March 17th between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM
Demonstrations during the open house will include advanced heat recovery ventilation and insulation systems, energy efficient appliances, and hot water systems.
Building Energy was also awarded an honorable mention in Efficiency Vermont’s “Best of the Best in Commercial Building Design and Construction” for a commercial energy remodeling of Champlain Center for Natural Medicine in Shelburne. Building Energy performed an energy audit and then remodeled the older building while reconstructing the thermal envelope. Total energy savings for this project are 77% and electrical consumption is reduced by approximately 50%.
