BPI and DOE Moving Forward with New Certifications

The U.S. Dept. of Energy along with the Building Performance Institute have been piloting four new advanced Home Energy Professional certifications:
      Home Energy Auditor          Retrofit Installer
      Crew Leader          Quality Control Inspector
All four certifications contain experience prerequisites, and all four require more advanced skills than existing BPI certifications.  They are natural upgrade pathways for experienced energy professionals, and will add credibility to the home performance industry.  This project is part of USDOE’s larger Guidelines for Home Energy Professionalsproject.  LRCC is planning on offering these new BPI certifications, depending on demand and funding.  Please contact LRCC’s Efficiency Training Program if you are interested in taking a pilot certification exam.  Prerequisites and certification handbooks can be found at BPI’s Home Energy Professional web site.

  • The people within this industry must not let this opportunity pass. Although it may seem costly for some, spending for this kind of chance would definitely be worth it in the end. It’s not just you or the company that will benefit from these, the environment, community and economy as well.
