A Community Celebration of Music, Art, Dance and Ecology takes place on Saturday, September 22nd, in the Keene State College Mabel Brown Room from The event, a benefit for The Sustainability Project, is sponsored by the Keene State College Ecology Club.
The first half of the program is volume-controlled for young people. It includes “Songs of Farm and Garden,” by the Solar Sisters; a puppet show by the Community Puppeteers; a set of “kid-friendly” environmental tunes by the VanBurens and a parade. Children are encouraged to bring posters about their hopes and dreams for the earth.
The second half of the show will feature dancing to the distinctive “prog/funk/jam/rock” sound of the VanBurens. Visit The VanBurens
and click on “music player” t
o hear some tunes. Also, view a “Keene Flash Mob!
” dance to VanBurens music that took place in Keene on September 17th. We felt a little silly but had lots of fun!
There will be educational exhibits about local sustainability efforts. Individuals, groups and organizations are invited to share information on a community networking board and literature table.
Suggested Donation: $10 for adults, children free. No one will be turned away for lack of funds. Proceeds will support The Sustainability Project’s efforts to create wheelchair accessible trails, tent sites and edible forest gardens in the Emerson Brook Forest, Gilsum.
