I am delighted that nearly 600 people joined me last Saturday for a town meeting on global warming, clearly the most important issue facing the future of our planet.
I thought you might be interested in watching a video of the conference, which can be viewed by clicking the link below. One of the areas we emphasized was the impact of global warming on the state of Vermont. As you will see, we had powerful presentations by a wonderful group of college students, state experts, and Vermont’s own Bill McKibben, who is one of the leading activists in the world in the fight against global warming.
During the conference, which we held in Montpelier, Vt., participants formed breakout groups to discuss policy directions for a sustainable energy future. I have included the policy recommendations that each breakout group developed for your review. As you will see, it is an excellent list of policy directions. The overwhelming attendance at last Saturday’s conference and the engagement we had with Vermonters on this issue makes me confident that Vermont will continue to play a leading role on this vitally important issue.
Once again, thank you for your interest on this important subject. Please stay in touch and feel free to visit www.sanders.senate.gov for more information on environmental issues, as well as other issues that we are dealing with in Washington.
